Nepal-India body reviews bilateral projects

  • The two sides agree to address problems faced by implementing agencies
Kathmandu, July 18 The sixth meeting of Nepal-India Oversight Mechanism was held here today to review the progress made in the implementation of bilateral economic and development projects. The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shanker Das Bairagi and Ambassador of India to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri. During the meeting, the status of implementation of all ongoing bilateral projects between Nepal and India was discussed. While expressing commitment to extend all necessary facilitation to ensure smooth execution of the projects within the specified time frame, the two sides agreed to expeditiously address the problems faced by implementing agencies, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As agreed during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s state visit to India in September, 2016, the Nepal-India Oversight Mechanism was set up in order to take measures to implement ongoing bilateral projects within the stipulated deadline. The seventh meeting of the mechanism will take place on a mutually convenient date.
