Financial assistance provided to Gharti Magar boys

POKHARA: Financial assistance of Rs 23,000 collected through crowd funding was handed over to two children, who lost both their parents in the tipper accident that took place recently in Mustang.

Mausam Gharti Magar and his wife Jitmaya were working as road construction workers in Mustang when the fatal accident took place, leaving their two sons,12-year-old Bibash and six-year-old Biseshan, orphaned. A permanent resident of Thawang Rural Municipality-1, Rolpa, the Gharti Magar family was living in a rented quarter in Naya Bazaar of Pokhara.

The amount was collected at the initiative of mediaperson Jamuna Sharma Barshan and was received from people within and outside the country. The amount was handed over to them on Friday.

Earlier, the Lions Club of Pokhara, Diamonds Village (Rs 20,000), Ramesh Bahadur Bhattarai (Rs 10,000), and District Child Welfare Board (Rs 10,000) had also supported the kids.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to admit the children to SOS Children's Village in Ram Bazaar, according to Treasurer of Rolpa-Pokhara Liasion Committee Ram Kumar Budha.
