CC meet to discuss CJ nomination on Aug 23

Kathmandu, August 20 The Constitutional Council has called its meeting at 4:00pm on August 23 to discuss chief justice nomination. The Constitutional Council has called its meeting after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee rejected chief justice nominee Deepak Raj Joshee on August 3. The Constitutional Council had called its meeting a few days ago to discuss CJ nomination, but put it off as leader of the opposition Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is a member of the Constitutional Council, went to Singapore for health check-up. Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal said the Constitutional Council  scheduled its meeting as Deuba had returned home from foreign tour. “It is understood that the Constitutional Council will discuss CJ nomination. The council is yet to prepare final agenda for the meeting,” he said. Bhanu Deuba, a personal aide to Deuba said  Nepali Congress president would attend the Constitutional Council meeting on August 23. Meanwhile, senior-most Justice of the SC Joshee took a six-day casual leave yesterday.
