Proposal on considering Bill relating to children passed

KATHMANDU: A proposal seeking consideration on the Bill relating to children, 2075 has been unanimously passed by the National Assembly meeting today. Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Tham Maya Thapa, presented the proposal. In the meeting, lawmakers Dilkumari Thapa Rawal, Radheshyam Adhikari, Bimala Rai Poudyal, Bimala Devi Ale Magar, Ram Narayan Bidari and Komal Oli were of the opinion that the previous bill could not encompass entire aspects of children's rights, and therefore, the new bill was presented. Responding to the queries on the Bill, Minister Thapa informed the Upper House that the new bill has provisioned child development officer at local level, and schemes to raise awareness on their rights and safety. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Legislation Management Committee, Parshuram Meghi Gurung, presented the Committee report on Environment Protection (First Amendment) Bill, 2075 in the meeting. National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timalsina informed the meeting about the changing members in the National Concern and Coordination Committee, and Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee.
