Siraha/Hetauda, Nov 13 Chhath festival was celebrated with a lot of fanfare and enthusiasm by offering puja to the setting sun across the country today. Chhath ghats were decked up in colourful lights at various ponds, lakes and water bodies in Siraha, Saptari, Dhanusha, Janakpur, Parsa, Bara, Udayapur and Jhapa, among others districts, to celebrate Chhath. On the main day of Chhath today, the setting sun was offered prayers. The festival will come to an end after offering argha to the rising sun tomorrow morning. People believe that they will be liberated from poverty and misery if they fast during the festival. It is believed that taking fast during Chhath cures diseases and brings prosperity to family. Meanwhile, Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel said Chhath was becoming the festival of whole country. Speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of Chhath in Hetauda, CM Poudel said Chhath had connected the people from mountains, hills and the Tarai.
