16 dead as minitruck plunges 400 metres in Nuwakot

KATHMANDU: At least ten persons died on the spot and dozens feared injured as a minitruck skidded off the road and plunged 700 metres at Ghyanphedi of Dupcheshwor Rural Municipality-1 in Nuwakot district, this evening, an official said. According to Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Krishna Gurung, 16 persons have lost their lives in a fatal accident. An ill-fated minitruck (Ba 3 Kha 3913) with at least 40 persons on board were heading to Ghyanphedi from Sikharbesi in the district, Gurung said. Meanwhile, a rescue operation is underway, Gurung shared.
