Three men die from alcohol poisoning in Rukum

RUKUM (WEST): Three people were suspected to have died in Rukum (West) from consumption of tainted alcohol, said the District Police Office (DPO).

The deceased have been identified as Khambu Kami (63) of Sanabheri Rural Municipality-9, Maman Singh Karki (54) of Musikot Municipality-11 and Palak Bahadur BK (21) of Musikot Municipality-12.

“It has been learnt that the deceased had slept drinking liquor named Orange,” said Rukum West DPO’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sumit Khadka. Police have suspected the consumption of adulterated alcohol to be the reason behind their death.

According to DSP Khadka, they are awaiting the report of post-mortem to determine the cause of their death.

The deceased had arrived at Jumlang of Musikot Municipality-12 in the district to attend a wedding ceremony. They had gone to bed after feasting and drinking alcohol.

However, two others who had joined them to drink alcohol remained unharmed by the liquor, police said.
