Kavre, March 28 Communications and Information Technology Minister Gokul Prasad Baskota today told the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal not to underestimate the government. Addressing Banepa Municipality’s 38th establishment day and its declaration as a fully-literate municipality today, Minister Baskota reproved the Chand-led party for embracing violence and claimed the forces advocating violence were bound to face defeat at the hands of the government. “CPN has lent itself to violence under the banner of a communist party, which is unfortunate. The government is committed to do all it takes to defeat the party and its politics of violence,” remarked Baskota, also suggesting that the party join mainstream politics instead. “The country no longer needs violence now, so it’s high time the Biplav group or any other group abandon violence and join peaceful politics,” the minister observed. Minister Baskota said the government had taken the upcoming investors’ summit seriously. “Contrary to our expectation on the participation of 300 investors, more than double that number is likely to attend the summit, which is a positive sign,” said the minister, hoping the summit would send out a positive message to the international community.
