Court-ordered drive recovers fines and enforces over two years of pending jail terms
RAUTAHAT, JULY 5
Rautahat Police arrested 21 convicted fugitives in a single day as part of a special drive to enforce court verdicts and track down absconding offenders.
According to the District Police Office, the arrested individuals, who had been convicted in various cases, were produced before the Rautahat District Court in Gaur on Friday for the execution of pending sentences and fines.
Police said most of those arrested had been convicted in cheque bounce cases, while others were wanted in cases related to grievous injuries from road accidents and citizenship forgery.
District Police Office spokesperson DSP Basanta Gautam said the operation resulted in the enforcement of two years, four months and four days of cumulative imprisonment and the recovery of Rs 94,500 in court-imposed fines.
Police said the campaign to execute court judgments and apprehend absconding convicts will continue.
