Kathmandu, April 5 Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal today left for France to attend the 15th conference of the heads of National Central Bureau under the International Police Organisation, commonly known as Interpol. The three day international conclave that brings together security chiefs from 194 member countries of Interpol will be held in Lyon from April 9, according to Nepal Police. The conference will largely deliberate on range of global security issues. Counter-terrorism and cryptocurrency measures will be among the key agenda of discussion in the conference. The participants will also dwell on real-time data circulation, increased cooperation across agencies in combating terrorism, organised crime and cyber crime, besides other measures to counter terrorism. Officials said that NCB chiefs would deliberate on DNA test, fingerprint database and facial recognition. The delegates of member countries will share information on strategic tools and techniques in relation to combating international crimes, besides expressing commitment to end terrorism and crime through mutual cooperation, said Nepal Police. Being the world’s largest international police organisation, Interpol has a vision of connecting police for a safer world, and preventing and fighting crime through enhanced cooperation. Interpol’s General Secretariat is located in Lyon, France, and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Its member countries maintain an NCB staffed by its own highly trained law enforcement officials. IGP Khanal is the chief of NCB, Nepal.
