The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 22.21 points on Tuesday, or 0.80 percent, to close at 2,777.58 points, recovering from a 26-point decline in the previous trading session.
Along with the benchmark index, the sensitive index increased by 0.59 percent, while the float index rose by 0.72 percent.
Despite the overall gain, daily turnover declined to Rs 5.26 billion, down from Rs 5.61 billion on Monday. A total of 11,385,100 shares of 346 companies were traded through 61,527 transactions.
Sector-wise, the market was largely positive, with the manufacturing and processing sector declining by 0.42 percent, the only sector to post losses.
The finance sector led the gains with a 6.03 percent rise, followed by the 'others' group (3.84 percent), non-life insurance (1.02 percent) and trading sector (1.32 percent). Other sectors recorded gains below one percent.
A total of 183 scrips advanced, 78 declined, and 10 remained unchanged.
Kalinchowk Hydropower Limited (KHPL) surged by 14.98 percent, followed by Central Finance Company Limited (CFCL) with 13.67 percent and Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited (CREST) with 10.57 percent, making them the top gainers of the day.
At the end of the session, the total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.739 trillion.
