Private companies operating 40 flights a day from Manthali

Ramechhap, May 6 The air service, which was closed just a month ago, has resumed in Ramechhap district. As many as 40 flights take off for Lukla from Manthali Airport on a daily basis. Some private air companies have started using the airport after repair work commenced at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. According to Manthali Airport Office, Sita Air, Summit Air and Tara Air have launched 40 to 50 flights from Manthali Airport daily. Movement of international tourists has also gone up at Manthali Airport after air service resumed. With implementation of the federal system, Manthali Bazaar area had started wearing a deserted look. Now, however, tourists have started thronging in the area after the operation of air service resumed in Manthali. Tourists, who reach Manthali by bus from Kathmandu, use air service to reach Lukla. Hotels and lodges in the bazaar areas are packed now. Private companies are scheduled to fly the airplanes to Lukla from Manthali Airport for three months till the repair work at TIA is completed. Chief at Manthali Airport Amit Kumar Chaurasiya, said 300 tourists head to Lukla from the airport on a daily basis.
