Police have arrested 14 people from different parts of the country in possession of illegal narcotic substances, including brown sugar, heroin and marijuana, according to the Nepal Police.
In Bardiya District, police arrested Gaurab Pun Magar, 26, from Madhuban Municipality–7 on Monday night with 3.77 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar from Ganeshpur of Gulariya Municipality–11.
In Jhapa District, Laxman Rajbanshi, 32, of Kamal Rural Municipality–6 was arrested on Monday afternoon with 3.44 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin while riding a motorcycle.
Similarly, in Sunsari District, police arrested James Rai, 29, and Siddhartha Chaudhary, 29, on Monday evening with 35.21 grams of brown sugar-like substance during a motorcycle check in Inaruwa Municipality–4.
In Dang District, an 18-year-old youth from Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City–7 was arrested on Monday afternoon with 530 milligrams of brown sugar-like substance. Police also seized the motorcycle he was using.
In Makwanpur District, police arrested Sant Singh Lama, 33, and Santbir Moktan, 30, on Monday night with 107.91 kilograms of marijuana from Simpani of Manahari Rural Municipality–8 while checking an auto-rickshaw.
In Kailali District, police arrested Pratik Chaudhary, 31, from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–2 on Monday night with 150 milligrams of brown sugar-like substance.
Likewise, three persons - Bivek Chaudhary, 19, Namraj Baraili, 25, and Chhatra Bahadur BK, 27 - were arrested from Dhamichok in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–19 with 110 milligrams of heroin-like substance.
In another case in Kailali, Ramesh Darlami Magar, 27, of Janaki Rural Municipality–2 was arrested from Lamkichuha Municipality–1 with 1.48 grams of heroin-like substance.
In Banke District, police arrested Gobinda Sunar, 28, from Kohalpur Municipality–11 with 120 milligrams of brown sugar-like substance after searching his rented room.
Meanwhile, in Kaski District, police arrested Sunil Kamar, 43, from Pokhara Metropolitan City–9 with 482 ampoules of buprenorphine, 460 ampoules of diazepam and 481 ampoules of phenargan, which are controlled drugs.
Police said further investigation into the cases is underway.
