DHANGADHI: Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has initiated the Green Clean Dhangadhi Campaign from Wednesday. Mayor of the sub-metropolis Nripa Bahadur Wada, amidst a programme, inaugurated the campaign at Campus Chok in ward no. 8. With the start of the campaign, green will now be the official colour of the sub-metropolis. In line with this, private and government buildings to be constructed in the city would be painted green. Mayor Wada shared that the sub-metropolis would also use green colour in the upcoming infrastructures of the city. He said that this initiative was not just a programme but a campaign and the sub-metropolitan city would require support from all to materialise it. The campaign also stresses that each house should plant at least two saplings as a step towards greenery and conservation of the environment. Dhangadhi sub-metropolis had distributed 20,000 saplings of Lychee and Mango trees to houses in various wards. The sub-metropolis has provisioned that it will provide the certification of construction completion only to those houses that have planted saplings of two fruit trees. In addition, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City along with Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industry has initiated cleaning of the city every 15 days. Likewise, youth volunteers would be mobilised to make the initiative a success, said coordinator of the Youth Peace Council, Prem Dhungana.
