Birmingham win

BIRMINGHAM: Birmingham defeated Blackburn 2-1 on Wednesday in the English Premier League, getting a winning goal from Mikael Forssell in the 87th minute. Nicky Butt gave Birmingham a 1-0 lead in the 62nd, but Robbie Savage equalized in the 78th, setting the stage for Forssell’s winner. The victory moved Birmingham out of the relegation zone with 32 points, ahead of Portsmouth on goal difference. — AP
