By Himalayan News Service

Kathmandu, July 7 The Ministry of Youth and Sports today finalised Ramesh Silwal, President of Higher Secondary School Association of Nepal (HISSAN), as the Member Secretary of the National Sports Council. According to the MoYS sources, Minister Jagat Bahadur Sunar is expected to make formal announcement on Monday after nominating Silwal in the NSC board under the National Associations quota. Silwal, who is also the President of Madan Bhandari Sports Academy and Chairman and CEO of Golden Gate International College, will represent Nepal Volleyball Association in the NSC board. The NVA has already decided to nominate Silwal as the NSC board member from the association. The post of Member Secretary is vacant since June 24 after Keshab Kumar Bista completed his four-year tenure. Silwal, a keen sports lover and owner of franchise cricket team Kathmandu Goldens in the Dhangadhi Premier League, was nominated as the Member of the Cricket Association of Nepal in 2005. Silwal also served the CAN as Vice-president and was nominated the President of ad hoc committee after NSC refused to give approval to elected body. The elected body moved the Supreme Court against the NSC. The apex court dismissed NSC’s decision of forming the ad hoc committee but it is yet to give final verdict on the case. In between, the International Cricket Council suspended the membership of CAN in 2015 and the world governing body formed the Nepal Advisory Group to draft new statute. Currently, the Monitoring Committee has been given the responsibility of assessing the elections of the district bodies.
