DHADING: Police in Dhading today made public a man reportedly arrested for his involvement in trafficking illegal drugs. The Area Police Office (APO), Gajuri organised a press meet and made public Bir Bahadur Lama (41) of Khambhanjyang area in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-1, Dhading district. Lama was arrested from Gajuri Rural Municipality-2 in the district on Wednesday night. Acting on a tip-off that the illegal drugs were being trafficked, a team of security personnel from the APO launched a raid at Dundethanti, at around 2:30 am today and apprehended Lama in possession of 220 kilograms (kg) of powdered cannabis packed in eight sacks sealed with tape, five polythene bags containing a total of 5 kg marijuana. Police also seized a black bag and a mobile phone set from his possession. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka at the APO, Lama was handed over to Dhading District Police Office to file a case of illicit trafficking of the narcotic drugs against him. He said the search was on for others associated with him, who fled the scene. Meanwhile, the DPO has taken Lama into custody and started an investigation into the case. Police in Dhading have been frequently laying hold on considerable quantities of contraband drugs through special operation conducted to control the trafficking of illicit drugs.
