Boxing team to go to Kuwait today

KATHMANDU: A three-member Nepali boxing team is on Tuesday leaving for Kuwait to take part in the ASBC School Boys Boxing Championship. Boxer Chhiring Wangdi Sherpa will compete in the 49kg weight category of the Championship slated for August 1-9. The eighth SAF Games gold medallist Ram Chandra Thapa will accompany Sherpa to Kuwait as coach along with team manager Pushkar Raj Panta, the Nepal Boxing Association Member and School Boxing Committee convenor. Member Secretary of National Sports Council Ramesh Kumar Silwal and NBA President Ram Awale bade farewell to the team on Monday. Legendary boxer Suresh Kumar Ale and former NBA President Rabi Raj Thapa were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, Fitwell Nepal and Boxmandu handed over kits to boxer Sherpa.
