Nepal may face uncertainty for a few years: CoAS

Kathmandu, September 10 Addressing Nepali Army personnel on the occasion of completing one year in office, Chief of Army Staff General Purna Chandra Thapa said the country might face uncertainty for a few more years. Thapa, who became the first CoAS to invite mediapersons in his briefing to army personnel said, “People’s expectations have increased and so have security threats as the country is coming out of political transition,” adding, NA will help the government during transitional phase of the country. “Nepal is likely to face uncertainty for few more years mainly due to changing regional power structure and international scenario, and also due to journey of the neighbouring countries towards prosperity,” Thapa said in his address at the Army Headquarters. Ever since he joined the office in 9 August 2018, he has been working to strengthen the foundation of NA, according to Thapa. “In the second year of my tenure, I will introduce several reforms in the institution and implement them,” he said.
