Nepali shuttler Dahal bags gold

Kathmandu, September 15 Nepali youth shuttler Prince Dahal won one gold and two silver medals in the Dubai Junior International Badminton Series on Sunday. Dahal registered a straight set victory over top seeded Indian opponent Varun Kapur in the U-19 boys’ singles final. Dahal defeated ninth-ranked shuttler in the BWF Junior World Ranking and defending champion Kapur 21-19, 21-19 to win the gold medal. Dahal had bagged the U-15 boys’ singles gold medal in the previous edition of the tournament last year. On his way to final, Dahal defeated Indian players Basant Kumar Rajendran and Rohal Gurbani in the semi-final and quarter-final matches respectively. Dahal, who teamed up with Dubai-based Nepali shuttler Sania Chand, finished second in the mixed doubles. The Nepal junior champion Dahal and Nabhan Najib of Dubai bagged silver medal in U-19 boys’ doubles.
