KATHMANDU, APRIL 29

Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal has underscored the need to transform student migration into a "circular flow of knowledge" contributing to national development.

Addressing a seminar on Student Migration: Policy, Aspiration, and Global Mobility organised by the Institute of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, Khanal highlighted the role of Nepali students abroad in acquiring global knowledge and expertise.

He called for establishing a diaspora knowledge network to map specialised skills and link them with Nepal's development priorities. Emphasising Nepal's strengths in climate science, information technology and traditional knowledge, he said such areas could help build world-class institutions.

The programme was attended by government officials, migration experts, researchers and young diplomats.
