Bangladeshi President visits Pokhara

KATHMANDU: President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid, who is currently on his four-day goodwill visit to Nepal, has reached Pokhara today in a Nepal Army chopper. The visiting president was welcomed at Pokhara Airport by the Governor of Gandaki Province Amik Sherchan along with other officials. President Hamid has visited the Phewa Lake. From there, he is scheduled to go to Rupa Rural Municipality of Kaski district for some sight-seeing. Earlier, Chief District Officer of Kaski, Ramesh Kumar KC, was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that all necessary preparations to welcome the visiting president in Pokhara had been complete. In honour of the Bangladeshi President, Pokhara Metropolitan City demonstrated cultural processions. The general public, including representatives of mothers' groups, civil society, among others welcomed President Hamid into the Lake City. High-level security has been placed in Pokhara in view of the visit, said chief at Kaski District Police Office, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dan Bahadur Karki. The foreign president will return to Kathmandu today itself.
