159 new Covid-19 cases registered on Monday; nationwide tally hits 271,118

Nepal on Monday reported 159 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 271,118.

Of the total cases, 61 are females while 98 are males.

In the last 24 hours, 85 cases surfaced in Kathmandu Valley. The capital hosts the highest number of active cases.

Likewise, 264 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry. As of today, 266,600 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.3 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 2,489.

No fatalities from the disease were recorded in the past 24 hours. The current total nationwide death-toll stands at 2,029.

According to the health ministry, 4,145 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,075,152 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 97 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Sunday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 270,959 with 105 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 103 million people have contracted the virus till date while 2.26 million deaths have been reported.
