Pokhara, May 28:
Maoist detainees held in the Kaski district prison yesterday broke the locks of the jail gate demanding the administration hear their demands.
The Maoists staged a protest programme from 11 am demanding that they be allowed to participate in the Maoist mass meeting in Pokhara tomorrow, allow them to visit hospitals for medical check-up and the release of all Maoist detainees. However, about an hour later, they broke the locks in a bid to press the jail administration to hear their demands, jailor Dambar Chand said. The situation was brought under control after sub inspector of the Armed Police Force, Amber Nemwang, intervened. Two critically sick Maoists Santosh BK and Govinda Adhikari and 25 others were later taken to the western regional hospital for treatment.
