KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 4 Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said today he would not resign from his post for which he was elected by the people. Inaugurating Manmohan Centre Annex Building at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital here today, Oli discarded the talk of his resignation in media as rumour. The PM’s remarks come at a time when the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is embroiled in intra-party wrangling with the faction led by party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal accusing him of disobeying party decisions and trying to split the party. He said he had repeatedly told NCP leaders that he would not resign and yet they were pressuring him to resign. “How can I resign? If I quit, I will be pushing the country to the brink of devastation,” he added. “I became the prime minister not because I longed for it, but because people wanted me to become the prime minister. I did not win this post through manipulation and trickery but on the strength of overwhelming support of the people,” said the PM. He added that any effort to create instability wouldn’t succeed. He said political stability was needed to spur development of the country and he had been trying to promote political stability in the country.
