It might come as a surprise to some of you that rhythm guitarist Bhanu, has split ways with 1974 AD. Before you start speculating wildly, let us confirm that he is no longer with the band, as he was not able to give enough time to Gyanodaya School. Bhanu, in case you did not know, is also the co-ordinator of the school.
Till date there has been no official announcement that he had left 1974 AD, though it seems he formally left in December 2003. When contacted, Bhanu confirmed this stating in jest, “1974 AD also still owes me a farewell. They have been very busy but I am waiting for a treat from them.”
On a more serious note, Bhanu says that after his father expired in August 2003, he decided to retire from the band.
But band members had asked him to stick on till December, hoping that he might change his mind.
“It was a pleasure to be a part of 1974 AD. They are so much fun to be with,” he says. As one of the founding members of 1974 AD, Bhanu says it was indeed difficult to bid goodbye to them but that he had no choice.
“The band was getting so big and we were so successful. But on the other hand it was slowly starting to affect my other responsibilities towards the school. So I had to take this tough decision.” — HNS
