Rupandehi, July 10:
Maoist central committee member Suresh Ale Magar said Nepal Army was running the government rather than the government controlling the army.
Speaking at an interaction organised by People’s Republican Forum, Nepal, in Butwal today, Ale Magar said, “The Nepal Army has been running the present government.” He said, “The government should not be afraid to go ahead as per the sentiment of the people because they would support such steps.”
He said the government could not take action against the Nepal Army officials and also criticised it over the agenda of ceremonial king. He said, “The regressive forces, who lost their power after Jana Andolan II, went to the palace seeking its support and, it is known that the palace told them to be silent for a couple of months.”
He said, the Nepal Army acted like the Royal Nepalese Army in the name of marking the king’s birthday. “There will be no problem in the management of weapons if political demands were fulfilled,” Ale Magar said.
He also urged the government not to announce budget for the new fiscal year until formation of an interim government. Central member of Nepali Congress-Democratic, Bal Krishna Khand said, election to a constituent assembly should be held to make the people all-powerful.
