KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 8
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 21.48 points on Sunday to close at 2,609.69, marking a 0.81 percent decline on the first trading day of the week.
The Sensitive Index, which tracks Class 'A' companies, slipped by 0.60 percent, while the Float Index, reflecting actively traded stocks, dropped 0.87 percent.
All sectoral indices closed in negative territory, with the hydropower sector recording the sharpest fall of 1.22 percent, followed by hotels and tourism at 1.20 percent, microfinance at 1.04 percent and finance at 1 percent, while no other sector posted losses above 1 percent.
The market witnessed a turnover of Rs 5.33 billion from the trading of 10,718,615 shares of 325 listed companies through 89,731 transactions. Market breadth remained weak, with only 46 scrips advancing against 204 declining and eight remaining unchanged.
Two companies-Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SWASTIK) and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited (SAIL)-hit the 10 percent upper circuit. By the end of the session, total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.381 trillion.
