KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 12

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 20.56 points, or 0.80 percent, on Wednesday to close at 2,544.59 points, as the market witnessed a broad-based decline.

The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of class 'A' companies, slipped by 0.74 percent, while the float index, representing actively traded shares, dropped by 0.76 percent.

All sectoral sub-indices ended in the red except for the Manufacturing and Processing sector, which edged up 0.23 percent. The Trading sector led the losers' group with a drop of 2.35 percent, followed by the Others sector, down 1.33 percent. None of the remaining sectors saw losses exceeding one percent.

The day's total turnover stood at Rs 3.84 billion, generated from the trading of 8.4 million shares of 321 companies through 66,824 transactions.

In terms of stock movement, 49 scrips advanced, 198 declined, and seven remained unchanged. Meanwhile, Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited (BEDC) and Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR) hit the upper circuit level, surging by 10 percent each.
