Kathmandu, July 15:

Joint general secretary of the Nepali Congress, Ram Baran Yadav, today said his party is absolutely against the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the restoration of which has been the prime achievement of the Jana Andolan.

“Our party is against the dissolution of the House. It also feels that the formation of an interim House is not possible,” he said while addressing a programme at Reporters’ Club here.

He criticised yesterday’s three-party meeting, saying that it failed to come out with any worthwhile conclusion. Scoffing at Yadav’s stance, CPN-UML leader Jhala Nath Khanal said the agreement for holding another all-party meeting with the Maoists was a great achievement after the Friday talks. “We talked about the formation of an interim government but failed to reach a conclusion,” he added.

Dr Minendra Rijal of NC-D said that until the Maoists find a place to show their claim, a political solution could not be achieved. “The Maoists should also acquire the ability of listening to others’ ‘no’ while sitting at the talks table. Two months have passed but the Maoists are not showing commitment to the 12-point agreement they reached with the seven party-alliance,” he said, adding that the Maoists’ atrocities are rampant.

Khemraj Pandit of the RPP wished for a successful conclusion to the talks between the government and the Maoists. He asked the SPA to be careful while making any another agreement with the Maoists.
