Kathmandu: There is no immediate plan to re-establish the evacuated police post at Kapan, police officials said. Irate locals had yesterday burnt down the post alleging police personnel’s involvement in looting a house owned by Kusan Sherpa.
“We are not going to re-establish the police office immediately,” said Dhak Bahadur Karki, Superintendent of Police at the Kathmandu District Police Office, Hanumandhoka.
Karki said re-establishing the post at Kapan would have no meaning. “Security offices are meant to provide security to the people but if people vandalise the office what is the point at posting police personnel there?” Karki asked.
