Kathmandu, July 18:

The Acting Chief of the Armed Police Force, Basudev Oli, today told the High-Level Investigation Commission headed by former Supreme Court Justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi that he had no hand in the Jana Andolan suppression or killings.

“He told us that the security forces were under the Unified Command led by army chief,”

a member of the Rayamajhi pa-nel told this daily. Oli also told them that the chiefs of the several security agencies should take joint responsibility for suppression as they had jointly formulated policies and progra-mmes to tackle the situation.

“I was only Additional Inspector General of Police,” the member quoted him as saying. He declined to talk to journalists. “I have helped the Commission,” he said after his interrogation. The commission also interrogated former assistant minister Bhuvan Pathak, former zonal administrators Dr Shekhar Gurung and Sone Lal Yadav. “Dr Gurung said he would take responsibility of his decisions during the period but others claimed that they did nothing to suppress the agitation,” the commission’s member added.

The Rayamajhi panel has summoned former ministers Buddiman Tamang, Narayan Singh Pun, Buddhi Raj Bajracharya, and administrators Ram Krishna Pant and Chhatra Bahadur Gururng for Thursday to record their statements.
