Electricity supply and telecommunication services of Rajapur market, a commercial centre for Bardiya district has ceased to function since a month.

Due to this the economic activities have been badly affected, informs the chairman of Rajapur VDC, Jivaraj Regmi. Rajapur was the centre for business and trade before the construction of east-west highway and now it serves as a business centre for more than 150,000 people residing in 11 VDCs covered by the two inlets of Karnali river – Rajapur, Daulatpur, Bhimmapur, Manpur Tapara, Khairichandanpur, Manau, Nayagaun, Badalpur, Pashupatinagar, and Gola Patabhar.

Electricity supply has been interrupted since the rebels blasted the sub-station of the Nepal Electricity Authority situated at Lamki of Kailali district and again after the blast at the exchange of the telecommunication office at Rajapur on April 23, business scenario has been totally changed inform local business persons.
