The spell of the dream damsels ain’t over yet. And even as the upbeat fans are raving about the suave dude, the only person to ever to bring home the title of Mr University International (Niraj Baral was crowned Mr University International 2006 on August 14 at Manila, the Philippines), the damsels too are determined to follow suit. Though they don’t yet intend to trumpet too much before they really make the audience sit up and watch, they are neither panicky or too laid back.

Twenty-seven dazzling ladies have been selected for the finals of the World Miss University Nepal 2006 to be held at BICC on October 13. The event will not only see the ladies show off their sparkling beauty but also their scintillating talent.

The event was first organised in the year 2003, and again in 2005. It is being organised this year for the third time by Excel Business Link Pvt Ltd, which has undertaken the responsibility of selecting a candidate to represent Nepal at World Miss University 2006 on November 8 in South Korea.

The participants have been equipped for battle by a slew of trainings that started on September 23 with a photo session. Apart from that they’ve also had induction about the contest by Puja Basnet, orientation by Sanjay Uprety, personality development training by Mamta Thapa, seminar on nature and wildlife by Gita Shrestha, seminar on drugs by SSP Basanta Kunwar, healthcare classes by Chettey Gurung.

The ladies are going through the final stages of their training on beauty tips and table etiquette with Dipesh KC.

“The contest will begin with an introductory round, which will be followed by a question round with members of jury asking the questions. Only 10 participants will make it to the final round, which will again be a judges’ question round,” says Bikash Kharel, co-coordinator of the event.

“The criteria for the selection will not only be how the contestants look, but the amalgamation of qualities that proves that they look beautiful and intelligent,” he adds.

The World Miss University is an international event held in Korea since its inception, with the objective of spreading the message of peace and love throughout the world.
