Nepal in semi-finals :

KATHMANDU: Nepal beat Chandigarh 3-0 to reach the U-14 semi-finals at the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Inter-school Football Tournament in New Delhi on Saturday. Suman Khadka struck twice and Sushil scored another for the visitors. The Nepali boys will play their semi-final match on Monday. The Under-17 team has already entered the next Friday’s final. — HNS

Dredge takes lead :

ST ANDREWS: Bradley Dredge chipped in twice to shoot 67 at Carnoustie on Friday and lead by three strokes after the second round of the Dunhill Links. Simon Dyson (Kingsbarns) shot a 68 to share second place with Charl Schwartzel (67 at St Andrews) and Johan Edfors (70 at St Andrews). Padraig Harrington (69) and Vijay Singh (70) are a further shot back to be tied for fifth with Scott Drummond and Mikko Ilonen. Three courses are being used for this pro-am event. — AP

Schalke deal :

GELSENKIRCHEN: Schalke will reportedly close a $125 million sponsorship deal with Russian natural gas giant OAO Gazprom. Under the deal Schalke will receive bonuses if it qualifies for the Champions League. Bild said the deal will be announced on Tuesday. Schalke will retain its current sponsor, Victoria Versicherung. Gazprom, however, will replace the insurance company logo on players’ jerseys, Bild said. — AP
