Tanahun, November 6:
Grade 12 students at Damauli College in Byas municipality-11 today went on the ramapage and smashed windowpanes of classrooms on the campus, claiming that the college administration was a lame duck.
Dispute was brewing between the college administration and lecturers after the administration gave pink slip to two lecturers Bishnu Khadka and Govinda Rana a week ago without seeking any clarification from them.
“The administration has acted arbitrarily, so we are protesting,” said lecturer Amrit Bhandari, adding that the sacked lecturers should be reinstated immediately. Bhandari said lecturers have totted up a nine-point charter of demands and are boycotting teaching.
“I got to know of our sacking over phone during Tihar festival,” said Bishnu Khadka. “We were not given a chance to clarify,” said Govinda Rana.
Ten lecturers, issuing a joint statement, have demanded the resignation of chief of the college Mahendra Neupane Neupane, however, said, “Some students of grade 12 are saying that they are not able to understanding what a new teacher is teaching.
But there is no dispute.” He said he did not know of any vandalism.
