Kathmandu, November 22:
The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) today decided to evolve a rapport with the CPN-Maoist along more credible lines and see to it that the same is further consolidated. The initiative for this will come from the party itself.
The formal meeting of the party — the first after the historic agreement between the government and the Maoists — was held at the prime ministerial residence in Baluwatar.
Stating that the signing of the peace agreement has conclusively proved how fruitful the coalition of the seven political parties had been, a statement issued by party General Secretary Ram Chandra Paudel expressed satisfaction at how party President Girija Prasad Koirala has successfully anchored the movement.
The party has also expressed the hope that constituent assembly elections would be held in the ‘desired manner.’ The party further decided to conduct a one-month publicity campaign across the country from November 15, the statement said.
