RJP hails agreement

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) held on Sunday hailed the latest political development as a positive progress towards peace. A statement issued by the party said the meeting also discussed the contemporary political issues and the strategies to be taken by the party in future. However, the party expressed concern over the ongoing incidents of violation of fundamental rights. — HNS

Maoists’ meet begins

BHAKTAPUR: The Central Committee meeting of the CPN-Maoist, began on Sunday at the Bhaktapur Guest House in Chundevi. Chairman of the party Prachanda, senior leaders Mohan Baidya, Dr Baburam Bhattarai and other central members were present at the meeting. The meeting is being held to discuss various contemporary political issues. — RSS

TTVSC’s warning

KATHMANDU: The Temporary Teachers’ Valley Struggle Committee (TTVSC) on Sunday opposed the agreement of December 14 between TU Central Struggle Committee and the government. Issuing a statement, the TTVSC said it would start a serious strike all over again if no correction is made in the agreement. “We appealed to the government to create employment opportunities for teachers and make corrections in the agreement,” the statement said. — HNS

Suwal dies at 84

BHAKTAPUR: Leader of the Tana Nai Dafa Bhajan Khala Bhaktapur and Badya Guru, Rudra Bahadur Suwal, 84, passed away at his residence on Sunday morning. Suffering for long from asthma, Suwal is survived by two sons and two daughters. — RSS

NSU’s protest

KATHMANDU: Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) affiliated to the NC (D) condemned the kidnapping of former NSU activist Suman Lama by the Maoists on Sunday. “The kidnapping by the Maoists even after signing of the peace treaty is highly condemnable,” said NSU. — HNS

KATHMANDU: A group of five persons looted property worth Rs 168,000 from the house of Prakash Nath Bhattarai at Soalteemode on Sunday, police said. — HNS
