Girls’ football
LALITPUR: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is organising the ANFA-Mayos Inter-school Girls’ Football Tournament from January 9-16, it was announced here today. In all 22 district teams will vie for the championship played under the knockout system at two venues — ANFA Technical Centre in Chyasal and ANFA complex in Satdobato. The teams were formed after conducting a selection tournament in the respective districts, said the organisers. ANFA will provide jersey-sets apart from bearing all the expenses of the teams including travel allowances. The estimated cost of the tournament is Rs 1,250,000. — HNS
Karate tournament
KATHMANDU: Nepal Kyokushin Karate-Do Association is organising the Men’s second and Women’s first SAARC Full Contact Karate Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium on January 14. Apart from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will take part in the tournament. The tournament include three categories in men’s section — light, middle and heavy weight — and one in women section (open weight). In all, 14 Nepali — eight men and six women — will compete in the event. — HNS
Indian Team win
LALITPUR: Indian Team won the Twenty20 Cricket Friendship Match beating Pulchowk Engineering College by seven wicket today. Batting first, Pulchowk scored 143-9. Santosh Shrestha top scored with 22 runs for Pulchowk. The visitors chased the total losing three wickets in 15 overs. Man of the match Sumit Kundu scored 56 runs for the visitors. — HNS
