Kathmandu, January 28:
Dharmanath Prasad Sah, Minister for General Administration, today stressed on the need for awareness among people as a measure to check corruption in the country.
“Unless public are made aware of corruption, we cannot expect better output from any corruption controlling measures, “ Minister Sah said this while addressing a interaction programme on “Implementation and effectiveness of departmental actions recommended by Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)” here today. “Thus, first of all there is a need of change in the mentality of people about it,” he said.
Minister Sah said that it is difficult to control corruption in the present situation and he confessed that the government is weak in implementation of the corruption-control measures.
“The study report on ‘Implementation and effectiveness of Departmental Action recommended by the CIAA’ seemed to be focused towards the minimisation of the corruption rather than its eradication,” he said.
Institute of Local Governance Studies (Inlogos) had conducted the study which was presented at the today’s interaction programme.
He assured that the recommendations pointed out by the study will be implemented by the government. Banshidhar Ghimire, leader of the study team, presented the report that covers the activities regarding the recommendations made by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority for Departmental Actions.
