Nepalgunj, January 28 :
Dol Maya Rokaya, who lost her husband during the Maoist insurgency, is yet to receive compensation. The Maoists murdered her husband Hari Prasad Jaisi, who was a police constable, on July 20, 2005, while he was on home leave. Dol Maya, a resident of Manikapur
in Banke district, is facing difficulties to support her children after her husband’s death.
“Though the government has assured me to provide Rs 750,000, I am yet to receive the money,” Dol Maya said, adding: “I even approached the Police Headquarters in Kathmandu, but in vain.”
Former police head constable Sher Bahadur Khatri, who was injured during the Maoist insurgency, has also not received any help from the government. He was injured in a clash between security forces and the Maoists in Kusum of Banke.
“I fought for the country. But the government is apathetic to my problem,” he lamented.
In line with the protest programme, the union today staged a chakkajam from 9: 30 am to 12 noon in Mahendranagar.
