Damak, February 8:
The problem of rations has arisen in all the seven Bhutanese refugee camps in Jhapa and Morang districts. Stocks of rice are finished and there is a lack of other food stuffs in the camps as well. Rice provided by the World Food Programme (WFP) to the refugees was sufficient till yesterday.
“As the stock of rice is exhausted, 12,000 refugees did not get rice today,” an official of the WFP here said.
Stocks got exhausted due to non-replenishment because of the Terai bandh, the official said. “Efforts are on to bring 60 tonnes of rice from Kakarvitta checkpoint by tomorrow,” he said.
