Gagan’s advice to NC
Lamjung: Former general secretary of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) Gagan Thapa said the Nepali Congress (NC) should avoid supporting the monarchy and the Maoists should shed their ‘arrogance’ arising from possessing weapons. Addressing the 14th district conference of the NSU’s Lamjung unit, Thapa said: “Since the NSU is ready to force the NC to jettison its liking for monarchy, students belonging to the ANNISU-R also should be ready to cure the Maoists’ arrogance.” — HNS
Statue damaged
MAHENDRANAGAR: ANNISU-R cadres vandalised the statue of late King Mahendra in Mahendranagar bazaar on Saturday night. “The statue was vandalised according to a our decision,” ANNISU-R district secretary Birendra Chand said. ANNISU-R cadres have put up a party flag atop the statue. — HNS
KMC locked up
KATHMANDU: Four employees’ organisations of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Sunday indefinitely locked up the main gate of its main office putting forth its five-point charter of demands, including scrapping of results published for the permanent posts of drivers and that all the lower level employees should be made permanent. President of Loknath Chudal KMC Unit Committees of Nepal Rastriya Karmachari Sangathan said the KMC has ousted all drivers who, being appointed as sweepers, have been working for the KMC for at least for five years. — HNS
