Vesawkar slams ton in Kathmandu win

Kathmandu, March 28:
Stylish Nepali International Sarad Vesawkar powered Kathmandu district to a 157-run win over Lalitpur at the Wai Wai U-19 Region-3 (Kathmandu) Selection Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Kathmandu scored 316-5 in 40 overs. Lalitpur were bowled out for 159 runs in the last ball of their innings.
Dipen Shrestha and Abhinaya Khatiwada put on 90-run stand for the opening wicket. Dipen quickfired with 51 off 36 balls while Abhinaya contributed 41-ball 24.
Vesawkar stole the show with a blistering knock of 137 off just 105 balls. His masterly innings included 12 fours and six sixes. Skipper Gyanendra Malla, who scored a century himself against Bhaktapur on Tuesday, scored unbeaten 46 off 25 balls.
Nasim Akhtar and Mandip Basnet claimed two wickets each while Pradeep Shakya took one wicket for Lalitpur.
Chasing the huge target, Lalitpur lost their wicket in regular intervals and never looked closer to their target. Sumit Rauniyar scored 26 and Jennish Maskey made 22 for Lalitpur.
Ramesh Shrestha finished with 3-26 in six overs for Kathmandu. Avaya Rana took two while Raman Shrestha and Sunam Gautam shared one wicket each. Three of the Lalitpur batsmen were run out.
