Anil Gurung’s extra-time goal helped Carlsberg Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) beat NIB Friends Club 2-1 in the final of the Itahari Gold Cup here.

Rishi Rai scored first for MMC but Jeevan Sinkeman replied for Friends to extend the game to extra 15 minutes of play. Rishi Rai scored on a penalty after Nur Raj Kafle brought him down inside the box. Sinkeman levelled the scores in the 54th minute when he headed home on a cross from Umesh Shrestha.

Anil scored MMC’s second goal three minutes into the extra-time, which turned out to be the winner. MMC won Rs 50,000 while Friends Club bagged Rs 25,000. Sandip Rai of MMC was declared the best player of the tournament and earned Rs 10,000. Man of the match Anil Gurung received Rs 2,000. General Secretary of Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal gave away the prizes.
