Kathmandu, April 9:

Five Maoist ministers in the interim government today vowed that they would not hold any private property at their disposal and whatever property they had been using would belong to the party. They expressed this commitment to the media at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Buddhanagar.

The ministers informed that they had already handed over their private property to the party in 2057 BS and the movable property they were using was of the party.

Maoist team leader in the interim government and government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, said that the party had developed a “collective culture” during the People’s War and that was intact in villages even today. Mahara said that they would not indulge in corruption and would be ready to face any challenges that may come in their respective ministries while controlling corruption.

Asked how they would manage to run their family, educate their children and maintain social interaction if they did not keep private property, Mahara said the party had been running schools for the children of martyrs, full-time cadres and leaders. Social contact would be developed based on collectivism, he said. In a 14-point commitment, the ministers said that they would carry out their work keeping in mind the spirit of People’s War and Jana Andolan II.
