Bright and vibrant hues of primary colours splashed on the canvas, geometrical figures make you stop and wonder. School of fishes in the metallic tint of gold and silver that adorn the paintings of Gajendra Man Shrestha not only screams creativity, but also manages to grab his viewers’ attention.

Shrestha’s solo exhibition titles ‘Waves of Echo (Fish Series II) started at the Sonja Art Gallery, Thamel on April 17. It was inaugurated by Ambassador of Japan Tsutomu Hiraoka.

The exhibition consists Shrestha’s paintings on fish and water. Using local Nepali Lokta paper as canvas, Shrestha with expert strokes has well expressed his feelings. Using the fish as a metaphor, this is the second time that the artist has represented peace and prosperity through his paintings.

Along with the metallic fish, which look magnificent and royal with the combination of, different vivid colours especially red, blue and yellow, Shrestha has also used bell as the symbol of sound, creating waves and echoes.

Beside the primary colours, the secondary and subordinate colours used in the compositions with great style and dimension portray the artist’s expertise.

The thought artist has put to the whole concept and creation, the techniques and metaphor he has used to represent his feelings, the style, colours and texture reflect Shrestha’s maturity.
