Books are expensive, while at the same time indispensable. But there are ways to save money and be a little over indulgent in things you like.

According to Shambhu Kharel, who owns International Second Hand Book Shop at Pradarshani Marg (next to Mahendra Police Club), “We provide 30 to 50 per cent discount on books, but the best option for a student would be to exchange books.” The discount given generally depends on the condition of the book, the edition and writer of the book.

It is not only course books, but also guidebooks, reference books and question-answer banks that are also found abundantly. If you are preparing for your entrance exams, looking forward to being doctors, engineers the preparation materials are also available at the same bookstore.

Right now since SLC exams have just finished there is a great demand from the upcoming batch for such books. So you can take your old books and sell it for which you generally get about 40 per cent refund. This scheme applies to books of all levels.

The books available at the store are all kept in prim and proper condition. The store also provides reimbursement if the book sold by the store is found with damages. But when you do go there remember to take the name of the publication so that you and the shopkeeper know exactly what you want.
