Landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have swept away a dozen houses in Bharapa, Nangin, Yangnam and Ranitar VDCs.
Rains and landslides have also destroyed crops on hundreds of bighas of land. According to Nepal Red Cross Society’s Panchthar, three families at Ranitar, two at Bharapa, one at Nangin and six at Yangnam have been displaced since July 27.
Chief District Officer Hari Krishna Upadhyaya said he had sought funds from the PM’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund for distribution to the victims.
In Dang, five houses and a school building were damaged yesterday due to incessant rainfall and landslides in Dang district.
Dhan Bahadur Thapa’s two-storey house in Dang’s Purandhara-9 was buried in a landslide while three other houses at the same place belonging to Ram Bahadur Gharti, Kharka Bahadur Bohara and Bhupal Singh Bohara were half buried under the landslide debris. Although the occupants of the houses managed to flee, they could not save anything.
Bhim Kant Sharma’s hous e at Satabariya-8 Mahaniya crumbled yesterday. The building
of Siddheshwor primary school at Simalkune also collapsed.
The Tulsipur-Purandhara road has been blocked since yesterday. Traffic on the Lamahi-Koilabas road section has remained disrupted for the last three weeks.
