March 11: Nepal’s largest and oldest music company — Music Nepal —turned 20.
April 2: Event management companies are ruling these days. PartyNepal.com that came up with the punch line “There is never a dull moment” turned one and organised a party to celebrate its anniversary at 1905. The organiser organised its own party in full throttle.
April 22: One of the most popular bands of the country celebrated its 10 year of making music. Formed in 1994, 1974 AD, the band that people have admired and appreciated, turned 10 years old.
May 21: Talent hunt is catching up. Lux Beauty Star — a talent hunt competition from around different cities and Kathmandu — was orgniased by Lux, a product of Nepal Lever. Priyanka Basnet from Kathmandu won the title of Lux Beauty Star, who will participate in Lakme India Fashion Week 2005.
June 26: First time ever in the country! Close up Music Video Awards was organised to honour the best of the bests in the world of music videos. Anil Singh bagged the “Best Music Video Award” for his song “Dubna Deu”.
July 2: Indian ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas performed at Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu.
August 7: From a nobody to a celeb! Payal Shakya was chosen Miss Nepal 2004. The Hidden Treasure in association with Dabur Nepal organised Miss Nepal 2004 at BICC. Payal Shakya participated in Miss World Contest in Sanya, China representing Nepal.
August 17: With an aim to uplift Nepali film industry, in the chairmanship of veteran actor and director Neer Shah, College of Film Studies was announced.
August 25: India Education Centre organised the grandest of all the fashion melas which included 150 designers from across the country. The show was one of its kind in the country and it showed the potential of Nepali fashion world.
November 5: Sensational pop diva Tata Young performed live at Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu. The Himalayan Times association event, Tata Young Live in Kathmandu, was a huge success.
November 14-20: Actress Cameron Diaz spent some days in Kathmandu and Chitwan. It was reportedly said that she was in town for a shoot for a show to be aired on MTV.
November 15: Senior music composer and first Nepali actor in Nepali cinema, Shiva Shanker Manandhar, died of lung cancer.
December 24: Asian sensation Shenaz Treasurywala came to Kathmandu to host a show on the occasion of Christmas.
